We tried appealing to their basic human decency for long enough, and now, when dealing with street harassers, it’s time to get their mothers involved. On the streets of Lima, Peru a team from Everlast (the boxing glove company) gave two mothers make-overs to disguise their identities and let them walk freely past their sons, who directed some nasty comments their way (tasty panties? that’s just weird and creepy). When the mothers’ identities are revealed the sons aren’t so much apologetic as deflective, with one guy going so far as claiming his mother misheard and some other guy was harassing her (nope dude, you’re on camera, it was you). It doesn’t look like the two men in the video got the message to stop street harassment, but maybe some guys watching the video will think twice before they yell at a women just for walking down the street again.
