While G. Clooney’s wife wasn’t actually nominated for anything, she still came out on top at the first awards show of the season. Whether you’re jealous of Amal because she’s wifed up by everyone’s favorite bachelor, or you’re convinced she’s just a v. fancy beard, you have to appreciate how accomplished the lady is.
While the rest of Hollywood was rolling around town covered in sequins that belonged at a middle school dance recital, Amal looked glamorous, classic, and was seriously channeling Grace Kelly (only less blonde). Sure, she might’ve been throwing some serious side eye, but her eyebrow game is so strong that she deserves to. Even better? She was one of the few stars who managed to look like the AC wasn’t broken.
Last night, the hostesses were not afraid to go there, Degrassi style. (In fact, the show would have benefited from 100% more Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.) The best JK of the evening came early, when Tina and Amy teamed up to call out Clooney/the ridiculous nature of award show season, saying:
Alamuddin is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, an adviser to Kofi Annan on Syria and was appointed to a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.
