Today the first trailer for Pan, (not to be confused with the Allison William monstrosity airing in a few week) is out and it’s…confusing. It opens with an Annie style letter from Peter Pan’s mother in which she apologizes for leaving him in an evil orphanage and promises to see him in “this world or another.” Peter seems super stoked about the prospect of another world, apparently unaware that’s normally adult-speak for heaven. He’s then plucked from his bed in the night and taken off to Neverland, which looks kind of like the set up from Holes. You probably last heard about this particular adaptation when the very white Rooney Mara was inexplicably cast as Native American Tiger Lily. Here we see Mara as Tiger Lily wearing curtains from Anthropolgie on her head, accompanied by Hugh Jackman (playing Black Beard) showing us all how Tom Hiddleston would look if he developed a meth habit, and a young, hot, maybe good guy Hook (played by Garrett Hedlund). No word yet on who’s playing the crocodile.
