McIntyre overheard her mom and grandmother talking about an extremely upsetting radio story they heard, about a 25-year-old man who needed a kidney transplant. The same man lost his dad to brain cancer in 2012… and his house burned down on Christmas Day in 2011.
McIntyre, who happened to also be twenty-five and type-O, decided she needed to help by donating her kidney. The two didn’t meet until she knew that she was a match, because she didn’t want to disappoint him. McIntyre thought he was cute and the two stayed in touch. They started dating in Memorial Day, and now they’re engaged and expecting a baby. This is way more romantic than meeting on Tinder.
