On Sunday, at the 2015 Grammy Awards, Beck won for Album of the year against front-runner Beyoncé.
Kanye West did not agree on that decision and all of a sudden we had a flashback from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, only this time he changed his mind when he was about to grab the mic.
Everyone laugh it off and thought the rapper was joking.
Later that night he left us know he was being serious, he explained at E!’s after party that: “all I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video. Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé, and at this point, we tired of it,”
He also explained the reason why after all, he decided it was not worthy to grab the mic and got down the stage: “By the way, I got my wife, my daughter and my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all know what it meant when ‘Ye walks on the stage.”
Now, after he gave himself a couple of days to cool off, he went on to Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show to clarify his comments.
“When I said that thing about respect artistry, I think it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part because obviously Beck is one the most respected artists and respects artistry,”
He then explained how he decided to get up on stage when they announced Beck as the winner: “You know, I felt like just the whole Grammys, right when that happened, everybody was looking at me and then people started screaming, “Kanye! Kanye! Go do it!” Ok, that didn’t really happen, these were voices in my head, so the voices in my head told me go and then I just walked up like halfway up the stage.”
At the end, the fact that the voices inside ‘Ye told him to stand up and go to the stage where not the most shocking news he dropped.
Kanye West confirmed he is working with Taylor Swift! OMG
“She wants to get in the studio and we’re definitely going to go in, any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base, I’m down to get in the studio and work.”
That is why, at the Grammys the duo was all into letting the world know there are no hard feelings after all, and what better way to prove it that working together .
