fifty shades of grey weapons ban

If your Valentine’s Day plans revolve around the premiere of Fifty Shades of Grey, you need to prepare accordingly. You cannot bring your whips or chains into the theatre (I’d suggest you save them for after the movie, but let’s be real — if you have a boyf, you’ll be spending the evening with him, not with Christian Grey).

Whenever a movie has a much-anticipated opening (even with rumors of no chemistry between the cast), it’s expected that fans will dress up. Whether it was Harry Potter or Hunger Games, it wasn’t surprising to see people put serious work into their costumes. For Fifty Shades, it’s much more difficult to dress up as a shlumpy V-card holder/horrible journalist, unless you wear an outfit that would’ve looked good on her inner goddess.

An AMC Theaters spokesperson told Mashable, “While we welcome those guests who want to show their excitement for a film by dressing up in costume, we do not permit weapons (real or fake), or props/costumes that would make guests uncomfortable, or detract from the moviegoing experience.”

So, put down your fuzzy pink handcuffs, because there’s an official ban on weapons for the premiere, including ropes, whips, and even ties (hopefully the many boyfriends in America who are forced to attend don’t dress up, or maybe they will so they’re forced to see another movie instead). Boyfriends of America, if you do have to go, let me offer some advice — feel free to wear a blindfold throughout, because those aren’t banned.
