Oh, middle school — how I definitely do not miss those days. The mean girls, the urge to fit in, and the fashion, which if you wore now would make you look insane. If you were a middle schooler during the last decade, there were two overwhelming options. You could rock Abercrombie & Fitch, from the ripped jeans to the denim minis, or you could be a total scenester.
Are you unclear on whether or not you were a scene kids? Well, did you:
a) Listen almost exclusively to emo music, including, but not limited to, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and Dashboard Confessional?
b) Have a Myspace account that you promoted regularly in order to guarantee the perfect amount of likes? (It was basically the OG Instagram, only no filter needed.)
c) Keep a LiveJournal that was overwrought and full of feelings?
d) Attend concerts in grimy under-21 locations like skate parks, VFW Posts, and underage bars that were entirely too sketchy?
If you answered yes to one or all of these questions, it’s time to embrace your inner scene kid.
