If you were preparing to ship hard for Taylor Swift and The 1975’s Matt Healy, stop thinking of cutesy couple names immediately. After Healy announced that he and Taylor swapped numbers (and were obviously on their way to swapping spit), he’s coming clean and revealing that a relationship between the pair never actually happened.
If you saw her run-in with recent ex/professional man bun Harry Styles, you probably realized that girlfriend was decidedly single. After all, once you’ve moved on you’re not nearly that awkward with your ex, because you finally realize that you (and your new guy) are far superior to him.
Healy announced, “It’s fake. It’s all bloody fake. It’s a farce! Yeah, we met each other, we exchanged numbers in the same way that a lot of people in this kind of world do and we spoke occasionally. And she’s the biggest pop star in the world and I’m in Australia.”
Look, there’s no reason that a celebrity in New York and a rock star in Australia can’t make it work… but it sounds like this couple is never actually happening. While it looked like a fairy tale coupling for the pop princess and the almost-rock & roll tatted up Australian, maybe Taylor should find herself a regular, every-day New Yorker, Dan Humphrey style. There’s proof she’s gone for his type before, but his chest piece might be a little too hardcore for the teen idol to take home to mom and dad.
Does Healy protest too much? Unclear, but for the time being we’ll believe that Taylor’s single and ready to mingle.
