With the Golden Globes airing last weekend, we’re officially in awards show season. Who doesn’t love finding out what movies we should have been watching? One problem: Every year we get the same, boring categories. In addition to “Best Actor” and “Best Screenplay,” why not spice up the show with some awards for the parts of movies we enjoy the most?
Best One-Liner
What’s a movie if it doesn’t have a perfect quote that you can throw into everyday conversations? In 2004, Mean Girls probably would have nabbed all the nominations.
Best Stuntperson
These are the people who are performing dangerous tasks while the A-List celebrity gets a massage in his trailer. They deserve some recognition! Plus, the acceptance speech would probably include a cool explosion in the background, right?
Best Soundtrack
Sure, there’s an award for best song, but crafting an entire soundtrack is way different. For example, The Hunger Games and The Great Gatsby soundtracks were always on point.
Best Animal Actor
Who doesn’t love a great appearance by a beloved pet that are sometimes an instrumental part of the story? A little critter might not appreciate a gold statue, but they’d surely appreciate a few treats for their long days of following commands and being adorable.
Best Child Actor
A kid has no chance of beating Meryl Streep when they’re in the same category. A separate category recognizing the efforts of mini-Hollywood would be awesome…and imagine how cute they’d be on the red carpet! Those are some interviews and outfits I want to see.
Best Title Sequence of a Film
The opening credits don’t just tell you the directors and producers, they set the mood of the entire movie! Filmmakers spend tons of time and effort perfecting it so why not have an award?
Best Trailer
Sometimes the trailer is even better than the actual movie. Crafting a short preview that gets audiences excited to see a film without giving too much away isn’t easy. Plus, the category would be a great way to look forward to what’s coming out soon!
