Now that winter is here in earnest, are you looking for music that takes you somewhere else entirely? The Lone Bellow, one of NPR’s bands to watch in 2015 (just so you know how impossibly hip they are), makes music that’s gorgeous, moving, and painfully real. If you’re a fan of harmonies and feelings from bands like The Civil Wars (they share a producer), The Lumineers, Twin Forks, and The Head and the Heart, The Lone Bellow is bound to wind up on your next winter playlist (and give you a serious case of the feels, in the best possible way).
Prepare for sing-alongs aplenty, along with plenty of Brooklyn vibes and a throwback to the best emo bands from your youth (so many feelings). While there are plenty of similar bands on the scene, the Lone Bellow makes music that’s equal parts powerful and catchy. There’s an emotional depth to their music that’s missing in other indie bands today (not naming names, obviously). Their blend of indie, country, Americana, and folk, creates something that feels familiar, but is decidedly new and poignant.
