Exodus: God and Kings

Release Date: December 12, 2014

exodus

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: This isn’t your Sunday school version of the well-known Bible story. Director Ridley Scott is makes epic movies that appeal to both guys and girls: see Alien, Gladiator. Scott spent $160 million making this film so it’s probably going to be pretty impressive. Oh, and Christian Bale plays Moses.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Release Date: December 19, 2014

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: Since this is the third film of the trilogy, you’re going to be lost unless you’ve seen the others. If you’re up for a day full of elves and hobbits and other creatures that I forgot about (I DID see all three Lord Of the Rings movies but have managed to avoid The Hobbit), suggest a movie day with your guy. Watch the first two movies from the comfort of your couch then head to the theater to see the new one. Your boy will have the best day ever, and you can always sneak in a nap.

The Gambler

Release Date: December 19, 2014

the gambler movie

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: A college professor played by Mark Wahlberg is actually a high stakes gambler in debt to a loan shark. Sounds interesting enough, but you may be more interested in the subplot where he has an affair with one of his students. Scandalous. Also, Jessica Lange plays his mother, and she’s fierce in everything she does.

The Interview

Release Date: December 26, 2014

The Interview movie

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: The plot revolves around two goons who run a tabloid television show, played by who else than Pineapple Express buddies James Franco and Seth Rogan, who have the chance to assassinate Kim Jong-un. It’s bound to be ridiculous, far-fetched, crazy…and entertaining.

Taken 3

Release Date: January 9, 2015

taken 3 movie

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: Your boyfriend can recite Liam Neeson’s character’s “I will look for you, I will find out, and I will kill you” monologue from the first film so he’s not going to miss the three-quel, even though it will probably just be the same exact story as the first two. However, Liam Neeson is still a bad ass and it’s always fun to see him crack some skulls.

Blackhat

Release Date: January 16, 2015

blackhat movie

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: Reason 1: Chris Hemsworth. Reason 2: Chris Hemsworth. Reason 3: Chris Hemsworth.

The Wedding Ringer

Release Date: January 16, 2015

wedding ringer

Why It Might Not Be So Bad: When a shy groom hires his best man, weird stuff is bound to happen. This might actually be a comedy you can both enjoy since Josh Gad (you know him as the voice of Olaf) and Kevin Hart are both hilarious and ~yay weddings~!
