Black Friday isn’t the only thing that marks the beginning of the Christmas season, your favorite pop starts dropping their Christmas singles also heralds the holidays. Nothing will ever touch the golden age of Christmas pop singles that was the ’90s (including the often overlooked *NSYNC classic “Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday”) but today’s musicians are giving it a try, including reigning princess of the high C Ariana Grande. In her holiday track “Santa Tell Me” Grande is putting a lot of pressure on St. Nick by asking him not to give her a new boyfriend, but to make sure her recently acquired guy is in it for the long haul. It’s a catchy song, but I’m still hoping she cranks her blood feud with Mariah Carey up to eleven by recording a cover of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
